Important — Please read this first.

VOID MY SOLAR™ is a consumer advocacy and contract-cancellation service — not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. Engaging us does not create an attorney-client relationship. If you need legal advice or representation, consult a licensed attorney in your state.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you," "client") and INSOLAR INCORPORATED, dba VOID MY SOLAR™, a California corporation ("we," "us," "VOID MY SOLAR"). They govern your use of voidmysolar.com, our VOIDCheck™ tool, and our paid Contract Cancellation Engagement service.

By submitting an inquiry, completing VOIDCheck™, paying our engagement fee, or otherwise using our service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund Policy.

2. We are not a law firm

VOID MY SOLAR™ is not a law firm. We are a consumer advocacy service that helps homeowners pursue cancellation of solar contracts through documentation, demand letters, regulatory complaints, and structured negotiation. We do not provide legal advice, do not represent you in court, and do not form an attorney-client relationship with you.

Our team includes professionals experienced in solar industry contracts, consumer protection, and regulatory complaints. When a matter requires a licensed attorney — for litigation, court appearance, or formal legal advice — we will tell you and may, with your consent, refer you to an independent attorney. Any such referral does not make that attorney our employee or partner.

If you believe you need legal advice or representation, consult a licensed attorney in your state. Nothing on voidmysolar.com or in our communications with you is a substitute for that advice.

3. Who can use this service

To use VOID MY SOLAR, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Be the homeowner or co-signer on the solar contract in question, OR be acting with the explicit written authorization of the homeowner;
  • Reside in a U.S. state where our service is offered;
  • Provide accurate information when submitting documents and completing our intake.

4. What our service includes

Upon paying the engagement fee and completing intake, you receive:

  • Full contract analysis — review of your solar agreement, loan documents, and supporting evidence for grounds to void;
  • Documentation package — formal demand letter and supporting record sent to the solar company and any associated lender or financing entity;
  • Regulatory complaints — filings with state Attorney General offices, the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and other applicable bodies;
  • Negotiation — structured negotiation with the solar company and lender on your behalf, pursuant to your authorization;
  • Case management — dedicated case manager and regular status updates until the matter is resolved or closed;
  • Removal coordination — where cancellation is achieved, coordination with your installer for system removal and site restoration.

5. Fees & payment

Engagement fee

Our engagement fee is a flat $4,995 USD, payable in full or via 2, 3, 4, or 5 monthly installments. The fee is the same regardless of payment plan — there is no interest, no finance charge, and no upcharge for splitting payments.

Payment processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full payment card number on our servers. By submitting payment you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Installment plans

If you select an installment plan, you authorize VOID MY SOLAR to charge your payment method on the same date each month until the total $4,995 is paid in full. Missed installment payments may pause work on your case. We may suspend or close a case if installments remain unpaid for more than 30 days after their due date.

Taxes

Stated fees do not include sales tax, where applicable. Tax is added at checkout if required by your jurisdiction.

6. Your right to cancel (3-day rule)

California Home Solicitation Sales Act. You have the right to cancel this agreement and obtain a full refund within three (3) business days after the date you sign the engagement or pay the first installment — whichever is later. This right is granted by California Civil Code §1689.5 et seq. and cannot be waived.

To exercise your 3-day cancellation right, email support@voidmysolar.com with the subject line "3-Day Cancellation" from the email address on your account. We will issue your refund to your original payment method within 10 business days.

7. Refunds after work begins

Once the 3-day cancellation window has passed and we have commenced work on your case (Case Stage 0+ — intake, contract analysis, or any outbound communication on your behalf), the engagement fee is non-refundable. This is because:

  • We allocate significant resources up-front to evaluate your contract and prepare initial documentation;
  • Once outreach is made to the solar company or lender, our investment in your case is substantial and largely non-recoverable;
  • Cases require continuous attention from your case manager regardless of how quickly resolution occurs.

See our Refund Policy for the full details and the limited circumstances where partial refunds may be considered (e.g., we close the case as outside our service scope before work begins).

8. Your obligations as a client

To pursue your case effectively, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and timely information about your solar contract, installation, lender, and any prior communications;
  • Forward copies of all relevant documents promptly when requested;
  • Notify us within 48 hours if the solar company, lender, or any third party contacts you about the matter;
  • Not pay, sign, or agree to anything from the solar company or lender without consulting us first (other than continuing existing minimum payments to avoid default);
  • Authorize us to communicate on your behalf with the solar company, lender, and regulatory bodies under power of attorney or limited authorization;
  • Pay any installment fees on time;
  • Treat our team with respect.

9. No outcome guarantee

While our success rate on accepted cases is high, we do not and cannot guarantee any specific outcome. Solar contract disputes depend on many factors outside our control — your specific contract language, the solar company's behavior, applicable state law, and judicial or regulatory discretion. Any past success referenced on our website is illustrative, not a guarantee of similar results in your case.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law:

  • INSOLAR INCORPORATED and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — even if we were told the damages were possible.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or our service is limited to the total amount you have paid us for the specific engagement at issue.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless INSOLAR INCORPORATED, dba VOID MY SOLAR, and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, damage, liability, cost, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of: (a) your use of our service; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) the accuracy or completeness of any information you provided to us; or (d) any action you took against our advice or without consulting us first.

12. Arbitration & class-action waiver

Please read this section carefully. It limits how you can seek relief from us. You and INSOLAR INCORPORATED each give up the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action.

Binding arbitration

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or our service (a "Dispute") will be resolved through final, binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Los Angeles County, California, unless we agree otherwise or the proceeding is held remotely. The arbitrator's decision will be final and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class-action waiver

You and INSOLAR INCORPORATED agree any Dispute will be resolved only on an individual basis. Neither party may bring a Dispute as a plaintiff or class member in a purported class or representative proceeding. The arbitrator has no authority to consolidate more than one person's claims.

Opt-out

You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms by emailing support@voidmysolar.com with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your full name. Opting out won't affect any other provision of these Terms.

Exceptions

This section does not apply to: (a) small-claims-court actions, if eligible; (b) actions seeking injunctive relief for IP infringement; or (c) any rights you have under non-waivable California consumer-protection law, including the 3-day cancellation right above.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to the arbitration agreement above, any action that may be brought in court will be filed exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll notify you (by email or in-account notice) at least 15 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of our service after that means you accept the new Terms.
