Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 30, 2026 · Plain English

The short version. We collect what we need to fight your solar contract — your contract documents, loan info, communications with the solar company, and contact details. We protect it with bank-level security, do not sell it, and only share it with parties needed to pursue your case (regulators, the solar company, your lender). You can ask us to delete your data after your case closes.

3. How we use your data

We use what we collect to:

  • Run your case — analyze your contract, prepare demand letters and regulatory complaints, communicate with the solar company and lender on your behalf;
  • Process payments — bill your engagement fee, handle installments, send receipts;
  • Communicate with you — status updates, account notices, scheduled check-ins;
  • Comply with the law — respond to subpoenas, court orders, regulatory inquiries;
  • Improve our service — analyze aggregated, de-identified case data to improve outcomes for future clients;
  • Prevent fraud and protect rights — verify identity, prevent abuse, defend ourselves against legal claims.

4. Who we share data with

The solar company & your lender

To pursue your case, we share necessary documents and communications with the solar company that installed your system, your lender, and any related financing entities — under power of attorney or limited written authorization you provide during intake.

Regulators & courts

When filing complaints on your behalf, we share relevant documents with state Attorney General offices, the CFPB, the BBB, state utility commissions, and similar bodies. We disclose information to courts and law enforcement when required by subpoena, court order, or applicable law.

Service providers

We share data with vendors under contracts that require them to protect your data:

  • Stripe, Inc. — payment processing
  • Netlify, Inc. — site hosting and form submissions
  • Google LLC — email (Workspace), analytics, cloud storage
  • DocuSign / Dropbox Sign — electronic signatures on authorization forms
  • Independent attorneys — where your case requires legal representation and you consent to a referral

We do not sell your personal information. We don't trade it to data brokers or marketing networks. Under California law (CPRA), the disclosures listed above are not considered "sale" or "sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising."

Business transfers

If INSOLAR INCORPORATED is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify you and the acquirer will be bound by this policy or one substantially similar.

5. Cookies & tracking

We use minimal cookies to keep VOIDCheck™ sessions working and to measure how the site is used. You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of the site may not work properly without them.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your data only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law:

  • Active cases — for the life of your engagement;
  • Closed cases — 7 years after closure (this matches statute-of-limitations periods for consumer contract disputes in most states);
  • Payment records — minimum 7 years to comply with tax and accounting laws;
  • Earlier deletion — at your request, we will delete identifying data after your case closes, retaining only a redacted summary required for our records.

7. Your privacy rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Show you what data we have about you;
  • Correct anything that's wrong;
  • Delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements);
  • Send you a portable copy of your data;
  • Stop using your data for non-essential purposes.

Email support@voidmysolar.com with the subject "Privacy Request." We respond within 30 days.

8. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA):

  • Know what categories of personal information we've collected about you in the last 12 months and the purposes of collection;
  • Know what categories of personal information we've sold or shared in the last 12 months (we do not sell or share);
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (not applicable — we don't);
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (in particular: SSN, financial account info, contract data);
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

To submit a verifiable consumer request, email support@voidmysolar.com with the subject "California Privacy Request" and your full name and the email or phone associated with your account.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, hashed passwords, restricted internal access, two-factor authentication for our team — to protect your data. Solar contract data is particularly sensitive, so we hold it to higher-than-average standards. No system is perfect, though, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@voidmysolar.com.

10. Children's privacy

Our service is for adult homeowners, not minors. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll notify you (by email or in-account notice) at least 15 days before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the most recent version.
